Come and join one of the many events during your first few weeks. They will help you get familiar with the university and enable you to meet new people.

We understand that arriving in a new city and country can feel overwhelming. Come and join our welcome events to learn more about Newcastle and make new friends.

International Welcome Sessions 

Our events will take place:

Wednesday 11 September

  • From 10:00 'Take a Plate' - Grab a free plate and cutlery but be quick! They are first-come-first-served and when they're gone, they're gone!

International Welcome Information Fair

The information fair will be:

  • in the Stephenson Building
  • on 11 and 12 September 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00
  • on 13 September 2024 from 10:00 to 13:00

Our Students' Union will be offering several FREE tours of the city and campus. These will run throughout International Welcome and the first week of term. Why not join one and explore what the university and city have to offer?

Formal welcome reception and social for international students

To celebrate your arrival, join us for a formal welcome reception:

  • in the Frederick Douglass Centre
  • on Friday 13 September at 14:00

You'll be welcomed to our university and city by:

  • Yvonne Chase, Head of Student Life
  • Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West
  • Naomi Oosman-Watts, Director for Student Success
  • Your Newcastle University Students' Union's Sabbatical Officers

There will be a social event afterwards with free food, games, and opportunities to meet new friends!

Health Fair

Clubs and Societies Fair

The Clubs and Societies Fair is a great way to explore all the ways you can get involved at Newcastle! The fair will be on 17 and 18 September from 10:00-16:00 in the Sports Centre.
