Celebrating Rare Disease Day

In celebration of Rare Disease Day, 28 February, watch and share the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research's 'shining light on rare conditions' film. Find out ways to get involved and raise the profile of mitochondrial disease

28 February 2022

In celebration of Rare Disease Day, the team from the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research at Newcastle University ask you to take 5 minutes to watch and share this film.

Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research have partnered with Genetic Alliance UK and ITN Production Industry News to shine a light on mitochondrial disease.

We hope this film highlights why research is important. Without research, there will never be hope for a cure.

So, we need to combine the best minds and work together towards more research investment and better policy. The Covid pandemic, and the development of vaccines, show that when you work together and invest in research, anything is possible.

There are 3 simple ways you can get involved and help to raise the profile of mitochondrial disease:

  1. Share this email with others in your network
  2. Share this video on your social media platforms with hashtags (@MitoResearch @GeneticAllianceUK @ITNProductions @RareDiseaseUK #ShineOnRare #RareDiseaseDay #RDD2022 #MitochondrialDisease #MitoAwareness #CureMito)
  3. Sign up to the Mitochondrial Research mailing list to support the campaign to raise the profile of mitochondrial disease.

Thank you for your support. For more information please contact Grainne Gorman, Centre Director, Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research.
