The Rugged Island: A Shetland Lyric (1933)

Silent film screening with a new live score by Inge Thomson and Catriona Macdonald, playing a selection of instruments, including accordion, whistles, flute, and fiddle.  A beautiful 'story documentary' made by pioneering Scottish filmmaker Jenny Gilbertson showing life, love and work in Shetland's rural crofting communities.

The performance was originally commissioned by Hippfest.
