Kensington Terrace is a converted terrace of 10 houses, which has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. In a prime location at the heart of campus, it's available for undergraduate students.

Kensington Terrace offers self-catered accommodation for undergraduates. Recently refurbished to excellent standards, each of the houses have their own fully equipped contemporary communal kitchen/lounge with flat-screen TV, where you can relax with your friends at the end of a busy day. We give you a Crockery Pack (PDF: 33KB) to help get you started.
All rooms include a four foot bed.
Access and safety
Accommodation is spread over four floors with no lift.
We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
A Residences Manager is responsible for Residential Services as well as welfare and discipline and a Customer Services Manager is responsible for reception services.

Kensington Terrace is located right in the heart of the University campus overlooking Newcastle's Exhibition Park.
It's in close walking distance to the city centre, with a fantastic range of shops and nightlife. Transport links, such as the Haymarket Metro station, is just a five minute walk away with links to wider attractions.

Jesmond and Haymarket Metro stations are both a reasonable walk away.
There are Metro trains every five minutes during the day.
The city centre is within five minutes’ walk.
For bus times and fares refer to Nexus Travel Line at or contact them by telephone on 0871 200 2233.
Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.
From Newcastle Central Station you can take the Metro directly to Haymarket station (two stops).
Taxis are also available from the Central Station.
Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University.
A taxi from the Airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15.
You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to either the Haymarket (25 minutes) and follow directions as above.

Kensington Terrace is University-Managed accommodation.
The contract is a fixed term period of 39 weeks (24 September 2017 to 24 June 2018) and covers the duration of the academic year. Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (ie earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.
All utility bills are included, WiFi is free and we also provide Personal Possessions Insurance.

Our accommodation is accessible to all and we support students who have particular needs or disabilities
We have one fully accessible en-suite study-bedroom with ceiling hoist from bedroom to bathroom. It has:
- height adjustable desk and chair
- a wardrobe with pull down rail
- low level light switches
- push pad automatic slow opening door connected to the fire alarm system
The en-suite is equipped with:
- clos-o-mat toilet
- adjustable shower
- grab rails throughout
- hinged back shower seat
- pull cord alarms situated next to the washbasin
The communal kitchen is equipped with a height adjustable sink and hob with front facing controls, a low level oven with an automatic extractor fan, low level cupboard and height adjustable worktops. Fire alarm strobe warning light system. There is also a low level push pad slow release door opening.
In addition, we have a number of accessible study-bedrooms all with en-suite bathroom which can be adapted to suit a wide range of needs. We recommend that you liaise with the Student Wellbeing Disability Support Service who will work with us to ensure the accommodation is suitable for your needs.
All pull cord alarms are connected directly to reception and are monitored by Estate Security Service when Reception is closed.
