Part Year Accommodation

If you're joining Newcastle University for part of the academic year, the options and ways to apply will depend on your exchange programme. Find out more about the accommodation arrangment for your programme below.
When completing your application, our portal should recognise you as a part-year student. If the system identifies you as a full-year student in error, please stop and contact us so we can amend your record. This prevents you being offered unsuitable accommodation, or experiencing long delays.
If we suspect that we won’t be able to offer you a room, we will contact you as soon as we can. We will approach accommodation providers in Newcastle to find out their availability and we will share this with you. If you're coming to Newcastle from an EU exchange partner, we've secured accommodation for you. We have 96 washbasin bedrooms at Leazes Parade for students who are studying for one semester. These rooms are in a great location and have fantastic facilities such an onsite gym and cinema room.
We are unable to guarantee you accommodation and therefore these rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Advanced Booking will be available between 6 June - 30 June. To secure a room, you must have an unconditional firm offer to study at Newcastle University. You can then go to the portal and reserve your room straight away. If you apply for accommodation later, your options may be limited.
Rooms are priced at £134.00 per week and contracts are available for:
Semester 1: 9 September 2024 - 20 January 2025
Semester 2: 22 January 2025 - 18 June 2025
If you're joining us from a non-EU exchange partner, we cannot guarantee you accommodation, however, we recommend that you still apply for accommodation as we can usually offer you a room.
To apply, you need to have a firm offer to study at Newcastle University. You'll then submit an application where you pick your favourite accommodation. As you're only here for one semester, you'll only be able to choose University-owned accommodation.
We will ask you to provide us with your expected arrival and departure dates. We'll use these to match you to the most suitable contract period. The contract periods available are:
Semester 1: 9 September 2024 – 5 or 19 January 2025
Semester 2: 22 January 2025 – 22 June 2025
