Our accommodation at Richardson Road is being redeveloped. The brand new Park View Student Village will open in 2018.
Demolition of the existing flats started in the summer of 2016. The new village is set to open for students in September 2018.
The project will also create associated infrastructure including a new energy centre for the village.
As part of the redevelopment project, Newcastle University worked with charities to donate 6,500 out of the 10,000 items of furniture from the existing site.
High quality student accommodation
The new £75 million Park View Student Village will replace the existing 1970s buildings in Richardson Road with six new blocks providing almost 1,300 en-suite bedrooms for future students.
The self-catered bedrooms will be contained within 4, 6, 7 and 8-bedroom modern flats, as well as single studios. The blocks will be located on campus and within a 10 minute walk to the city, close to our Medical School, Sports Centre, as well as the residential catering in Castle Leazes Halls.
You will benefit from an on-site laundry, a central multi-use common room for games, socialising and studying, as well as university security contactable 24/7.

Our accommodation is accessible to all and we support students who have particular needs or disabilities
We have four accessible studios.
For students who prefer to live in a cluster flat, all of our seven bed flats have one accessible en-suite study bedroom, suitable for students who require the use of a wheelchair. The communal areas within these flats are also suitable for wheelchair access.
In addition, we have a number of en-suite bedrooms which can be adapted to suit a wide range of personal requirements. We recommend you liaise with the Student Wellbeing Disability Support Service who will work with us to ensure our accommodation is suitable for your needs.
All our emergency pull-cord alarms are connected directly to our reception and are monitored by Estate Security Service when Reception is closed.
For further information on our accessible accommodation, see our Access for All Leaflet (PDF: 85KB).
