17 April 2024

Newcastle University Sport are delighted to announce that Director of Rugby, Darren Fearn, has been appointed the new Forwards coach at Doncaster Knights.

The former Newcastle Falcons player will continue to play an integral role as Director of the University’s rugby programme.

Darren said: “I am really excited to join Doncaster Knights, a prestigious club with ambition. The opportunity to work alongside Sir Ian McGeechan and Joe Ford is very exciting and a big factor in taking on the role.

“I am delighted to continue playing a role in Newcastle University rugby moving forward as it is something I feel passionately about.

“The rugby programme at Newcastle University is in a really good place, with some fantastic people involved across the coaches, committees and players, while having some top-class players looking to join the University in September.”

Katy Storie, Director of Sport at Newcastle University, added: “Darren’s successful track record and huge impact on the University’s rugby programme demonstrate his dedication to nurturing talent, both on and off the pitch.

“We wish him the best of luck in his new position and look forward to him continuing as our Director of Rugby to develop and mentor our student athletes.”
