Join the Newcastle University Newcastle Alumni Network for their next event.

Their upcoming event series will celebrate alumni from our region who are making a difference in the community or in the world of work.

In the first event of its kind, Andy Haddon (fellow graduate and founder of Big River Bakery) will share his experience of leading a social enterprise. Andy's talk, which will take place on Wednesday 4 June, will be followed an opportunity to network with other Newcastle alumni in the local area. Pizza will also be provided!

About Andy's talk

Andy will share his inspiring life journey: from a corporate career in China to returning to the North of England with a desire to make the world a better place.

Andy has created a community bakery with far reaching impact in a disadvantaged area on Tyneside which aims to make healthy food accessible to everyone.

One of his proudest achievements at Big River Bakery has been averting the stottie extinction in addition to creating jobs, supporting individuals who face barriers to employment, starting many community initiatives and inspiring others to create sustainable positive change in their own lives and in their communities.

Sign up to listen to Andy discuss how he became the 'David Attenborough' of the Stottie.
