Wild Pop & The Praxis of Disciplined Spontaneity

Wild Pop & The Praxis of Disciplined Spontaneity

Speaker: Dr Will Edmondes, Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Performance, School of Arts & Cultures

This talk will present Edmondes’ work as a composer, performer and recording artist as the point of departure for the articulation and development of research frameworks that can serve the interests of the art itself while at the same time forming the basis for research funding applications. While outlining the complexities of such a clash of trajectories, the critical insight of writers and thinkers like Sun Ra, C.L.R. James, Fred Moten, Elvin Brandhi, Trisha Rose and Saidiya Hartman will be factored in.
