Design Unit offers a comprehensive range of training services to support both gear manufacturers and gear users, delivered in an informal manner. Typical courses include:

- Good gear design practice: balancing power density improvements and minimising risk and noise
- Gear specification
- Gear stress analysis, with ISO6336, scuffing risk
- Gear measurement and calibration
- Material testing
- Material analysis methods
- Failure modes and failure recognition
- Gear testing
These are often delivered in association with the British Gear Association (BGA).
