About Bioindustry Association (BIA)

The Bioindustry Association (BIA) is the national trade association for innovative life science companies in the UK. As a not-for-profit member organisation, it is our aim to enable companies to start & grow successfully in the UK. We offer support to the sector through our policy work, connecting members to our network of industry leaders, and providing savings on all things from lab equipment through to research outsourcing.

One of the key events in the BIA calendar for supporting translation is the PULSE program – an annual three-day boot camp aimed at first-time entrepreneurs in the life sciences. The programme, run in partnership with The Francis Crick Inst. comprises:

  • a mix of sessions,
  • talks,
  • interactive exercises,
  • interspersed with networking opportunities to equip you with the necessary information and inspiration to become leading CEOs and entrepreneurs.

The event is free to attend and applications are accepted from anyone within the UK, more information on PULSE can be found.

Another event aimed at equipping early-stage companies is the BIA Start-Up Festival. This UK wide event aims to connect early-stage CEOs looking to scale their companies with a network of experienced entrepreneurs and founders.

It is never too early to start connecting to the wider network for advice/support. If a researcher is interested in spinning out their research, or has already done so, we are delighted to meet them.

The BIA supports stages D2-T3. BIA exist to support life science companies, so as soon as the desire to launch a company exists, the BIA is happy to help.
