Newcastle Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Centre grant provides infrastructure support for the delivery of early phase clinical trials and also development and development and delivery of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic biomarkers. Newcastle’s CRUK Centre mainly supports early stage translational projects at T1.

NIHR NENC Clinical Research Network (CRN)

The NIHR North-East North-Cumbria Clinical Research Network (NENC CRN) make sure that health and care research occupies the place it deserves to across the North East and North Cumbria area. The NIHR NENC CRN supports translational research in its early stages T1 and T2.

Fuse

Fuse, the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, brings together the five North East Universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside. A unique collaboration to deliver world-class research to improve health and wellbeing and tackle inequalities. Fuse supports projects across all translational research stages (D1-T3), although not clinically focused, rather with a primary focus on public health.

NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre (PRC)

The National Patient Recruitment Centre (PRC) programme is purpose-designed to increase the UK's capacity to deliver late-phase commercial clinical research. NIHR PRC Newcastle supports SMEs, the Life Sciences and MedTech Industries in delivering late phase clinical trials. This would usually be at stage T2 of the translational research pathway.

FMS Project Management Team

The FMS Project Management Team are a highly skilled team who provide a comprehensive specialist professional support service to a portfolio of translational medical research projects, many of which are multi-site and cross-disciplinary. The majority of the projects supported by the FMS Project Management Team fall within stages D3-T2.

Centre for In Vivo Imaging

The Centre for In Vivo Imaging develops novel imaging technologies and applies them to basic science and clinical research. We support stages D1-D3 and T1-T2 of the translational pathway.

CPI is a leading independent technology innovation centre and a founding member of the UK Government’s High Value Manufacturing Catapult. We act as a catalyst bringing together academia, businesses, government and investors to ensure that every great invention gets the best opportunity to become a successfully marketed product or process. CPI predominantly supports researchers at stages D3-T2 of the translational research pathway.
