About Newcastle Health Innovation Partners

Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) is an accredited Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and works collaboratively to translate world-class research and innovation into real world benefit, improving the population’s health and generating economic growth for the North East and North Cumbria region. NHIP support for researchers includes:

  • helping join up the translational pipeline from invention to evaluation, adoption and diffusion to support the innovation commercialisation process and ensure regional partners work collaboratively
  • exploring the emergence of new research satellites that are cross-partner groups focused on a particular healthcare need, disease area or technology
  • providing access to thought-provoking Lightning Talks and events from eminent researchers and leaders in their field
  • identifying and addressing barriers that impact researchers working across the clinical academic interface.

Stage

The organisations within NHIP (NHS, Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council) will interact with researchers as NHIP is the sum of these five organisations to create new value. The work of NHIP in its emerging education, research and Innovation and people and culture programmes will benefit researchers as we build a stronger academic health science community.

Areas of interest in NHIPs Work Programme can be accessed through the NHIP website where the work programme, schedule of key contacts and programme of events are captured.

NHIP as an AHSC covers the full pathway from D1-T3, portrayed by its pipeline of regional assets from discovery and moves beyond adoption to diffusion through the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN).
