About Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA)

The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) supports researchers in Newcastle by offering the opportunity to collaborate on science with peers across the north and lobby collectively. Creating a unique offer nationally and internationally.

Stage

Our activity and support is organised by thematic areas rather than translational stages. All of the stages are represented in the Advanced Therapies and Diagnostics programmes. For example:

  • Mental Health is more at the evaluation and adoption stages.
  • Data and AI is broad and underpinning but applies to any and all of the stages.
  • The infectious disease and healthy ageing networks across the North are not best defined by the stages, rather by the breadth of engagement and partnership working across the geography.

We have examples of projects throughout all of the stages of translational research across our programmes from D1 to T3.
