About Research Funding Development Team

The Newcastle University Research Funding Development Team provides strategic pre-award research funding services. Our expertise lies in:

  • gathering and interpreting funding intelligence
  • assisting applicants in using this to best effect in planning funding strategies
  • preparing strong funding applications.

We have team members based in each University faculty and EU and International funding specialists. Within the Faculty of Medical Sciences team, we have two Senior Research Funding Development Managers (RFDM) that provide expertise and coordinate translational research funding applications from across the University. They are based in the Newcastle Joint Research Office and provide a link into the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals (NuTH) NHS Trust.

Stage

Researchers should approach the RFDM team when considering applying for funding. Support is available for all research across the University but the Translational RFDMs predominantly support research in the D2-T2 stages along the Translational Pathway.
