Grand Hotel is available for our postgraduate students. Situated above the University bookshop on campus, it's ideally located for all that the city centre can offer.

Grand Hotel offers self-catered en-suite accommodation, right on campus for postgraduate students. On each floor there are two or three central kitchen/lounges, where you can eat and meet with your friends. There's also a separate TV lounge. As well as providing you with a Crockery Pack (PDF: 33KB) to help get you started, we also give you a free bedding pack to ensure you are comfortable from day one.
As the Grand Hotel is located right on campus, there is no car parking or bike storage available.
Access and safety
Rooms are spread across three floors. There is an entry phone system. We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
A Residences Manager is responsible for Residential Services as well as welfare and discipline and a Customer Services Manager is responsible for Reception Services.

Haymarket Metro station is just across the road from the Grand Hotel.
There are Metro trains every five minutes during the day.
The Grand Hotel is on campus and in the heart of the city centre.

Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.
From Newcastle Central Station you can take the Metro directly to Haymarket station (two stops).
Taxis are also available from the Central Station.
Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University.
A taxi from the Airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15.
You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to the Haymarket (25 minutes) and follow directions as above.

Grand Hotel is University-Managed accommodation.
The contract is a fixed term period of 50 weeks (19 September 2017 to 4 September 2018) and covers the duration of the academic year. Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (ie earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.
All utility bills are included, WiFi is free and we also provide Personal Possessions Insurance.

Our accommodation is accessible to all and we support students who have particular needs or disabilities
We offer two accessible en-suite study-bedrooms fitted with a wardrobe with pull down hanging rail, fire alarm strobe warning light system and a pull cord alarm. The bedroom furniture is mobile and height adjustable. The en-suites are equipped with a pull cord alarm, one washbasin, one hand rinse basin, plus hinged support and grab rails.
Two of the communal kitchens are equipped with lowered worktops, a sink and hob with front facing controls, a low level cupboard unit and fire alarm strobe warning light system.
All pull cord alarms are connected directly to Windsor Terrace Reception and are monitored by Estate Security Service when Reception is closed.
