Update on Newcastle University Convocation
The University’s Convocation, of which all alumni are members, is required to hold at least one meeting each year at which it may discuss and make representations on any matter relating the University. The draft minutes for the last meeting are published here.

Following an election that took place in September 2025, the University has been pleased to welcome Shah Yaseen Ali as the new Chair of Convocation. In his own words 'As a new law graduate (2023) and recent President of the Students’ Union (2023–24), I am keen to champion the voice of alumni in shaping the future of Newcastle University. This is important to me and why I chose to stand for the role of Chair of Convocation'.
