GOLDRUSH Megaserver for non-numeric parallel computing
Project Dates: From November 1996 to October 1999
Project Leader: Prof. Paul Watson
Sponsors: HEFCE Joint Research Initiative
The ICL Goldrush MegaServer is a high-performance, parallel database server which runs Parallel Oracle. It provides an excellent platform for research into parallel and distributed computing, in particular where very large datasets are stored and processed. The Goldrush was purchased with funding from HEFCE, ICL and Oracle under the HEFCE Joint Research Equipment Initiative to provide a shared resource for researchers at Newcastle and other Universities for non-numeric parallel computing.
