Dr. Saad Alateef obtained his BSc (Hons.) from Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK in 2014, his MSc degree in Advanced Computer Science from Newcastle University, UK in 2015, and his Ph.D. in energy efficiency and route planning of EVs from Newcastle University, UK in 2023. Currently, he works as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at King Saud University (KSU). He worked previously as a senior data analyst at the Department of Digital Systems and Solutions within the Saudi government. Prior to this role, he held the position of Assistant Professor at the School of Computing, Newcastle University, UK. In addition, he presently holds the position of visiting researcher at the School of Computing, Newcastle University.
Dr Alateef's research interests encompass various aspects of electric vehicles, including modelling and simulation, journey planning, real-time range prediction, state of charge, and driving behaviour estimation using geo-data. He is also engaged in blockchain technology research, particularly its applications in enhancing energy efficiency within smart grid systems and sustainable transportation networks. Beyond EV-related research, he is also keenly interested in the broader context of smart cities, including the integration of electric vehicles into the grid and the analysis of data related to food production, consumption, and nutrition within these urban environments.
