English language requirements
If your first language isn't English you will generally need an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent, to study at Newcastle University.
Our English language requirements section also lists the alternative English language qualifications we accept.
If you don't meet our English language requirements extra support is available. You could also complete a pre-sessional course to help improve your English before you start your degree. We provide these at our:
- INTO Newcastle if you will be studying in Newcastle
- London campus if you will be studying in London
You will also receive language support throughout the course of your studies.
