Language Learning Support

We can help you learn a language. We offer different kinds of support at the Centre, so you can choose how you want to learn.

Peer-Assisted Learning

The Language Resource Centre offers a variety of language practice sessions led by native-level students.
These weekly sessions are intended to provide an informal and relaxed way to practise your language skills.
Choose from a range of Conversation Groups and 1-to-1 sessions.

See the PDF document below for more details and how to sign up for the programme.

Conversation groups

As part of the centre's peer-assisted learning activity, the conversation groups are led by native-level speaking students. They're a great way to improve your speaking skills in a relaxed and informal setting with people of a similar level.
We offer a range of intermediate and advanced groups in several languages including: Chinese; English; French; German; Italian; Japanese; Portuguese; Spanish

1-to-1 Sessions

As part of the Language Resource Centre’s Peer-Assisted learning programme, these 20-minute individual sessions are an opportunity for members of the LRC to practise and improve language skills with a native-level speaking student in order to help consolidate language learnt previously either in lessons or through independent study.  Members of the LRC can book a 20-minute 1-to-1 session with a student advisor.  They are suitable for learners at any level from beginner to advanced.

We offer 1-to-1 sessions in Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
