My job responsibilities include:


Travel

  • Collate University wide data on commuting and business travel as part of the annual HESA EMR submission
  • Maintain the travel pages on the Sustainable Campus website
  • Develop and support sustainable travel choices for colleagues and students
  • Cycling Coordinator for our Cycle Friendly Employer accreditation


Biodiversity

  • Chair Newcastle Biodiversity Group
  • Establish a campus wide biodiversity baseline and complete the additional steps required to become a Nature Positive University
  • Maintain the biodiversity page on the Sustainable Campus website
  • Continue to protect and enhance biodiversity on campus alongside the Grounds Team
  • Organise the North East regions participation in the annual global City Nature Challenge


Energy

  • Validate the monthly gas consumption data


Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

  • Internally audit the EMS & EnMS processes, procedures and operations to help maintain the University's ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 internationally recognised accreditations.
