Background

Responsible for leading on the development and delivery of sustainability action plans to support delivery of the University' sustainability strategic enabler and ensure continual improvement in environmental performance. This includes management of the University's Environmental Management System (EMS), certified against ISO14001:2015.

Duties include:

  • EMS Management representative and overall responsibility for maintenance and oversight of ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Development and delivery of objectives, targets and action plans in line with the University's Environmental Sustainability Policy.
  • Development, maintenance and implementation of processes and procedures within the EMS to ensure its continued suitability and effectiveness.
  • Ensure systems are in place in order for the University to comply with environmental legislation, and all other compliance obligations.
  • Management of budgets..
  • Leading on advising sustainability related tender specifications, and assessments of sustainability elements of wider tenders for goods or services procured across the University,
  • Leading on communication and engagement activities to raise awareness of sustainability amongst staff, students and other stakeholders.
  • Lead advisor on responsible investment and ongoing monitoring of Fund Managers in relation to their ESG performance.
  • Producing and presenting reports to inform staff, students and other stakeholders of University sustainability performance.
  • Responsibility for management and development of the Sustainability Team.
