Cycle to Work Day
Cycling is a great way to get active and travel sustainably, cycling can also help to save money on transportation costs and make commuting more convenient and flexible. The University is committed to supporting active commuters, offering facilities designed to make cycling easier and more accessible.
How does the university support colleagues who cycle to work?
If you would like to learn how we support colleagues who cycle to work, our Sustainable Campus cycling page shares helpful information about the facilities we have available such as a variety of bike storage options, shows and changing rooms available on site. The university also provides a few different options for purchasing a bike, such as providing Cyclescheme and organising second hand bike sales.
Dr Bike
We have Dr Bike session scheduled on Cycle to Work day, whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, Dr Bike sessions offer a great opportunity to ensure your bike is safe to ride. Dr Bike is led by the great local charity WATBike and organised by the Sustainability Team.
Bring your bike down to a session for free minor maintenance repairs from a WATBike mechanic. You can also request a free bike safety inspection to be fully confident that your bike is fit for purpose.
Please note large repairs are not covered by Dr Bike sessions, however the team can provide quotes and organise bike collections from campus.
