Spud Fest

A celebration of the humble potato!

Date/Time: Thursday 15th December, 10:00

Venue: The Boiler House

The School of Natural and Environmental Sciences at Newcastle University undertake ground-breaking research across the natural sciences. Working with NU Farms and EcoBreed, we discover, develop and drive the latest innovations in plant and crop science.

Across our farms, we grow tonnes of potatoes every year as part of this world-leading research and this year, we're inviting you to join us in celebrating them!

This event will showcase our research, while working alongside the Sustainability Team, Keenan Recycling Ltd, EAT@Newcastle and Newcastle Food Bank to prevent any food waste resulting from the potato harvest. We have already distributed over 1 tonne of potatoes to families in need with the help of Newcastle Food Bank.

The day will have informative talks, fun activities, free tasting samples, potatoes to take away and cook yourself and other freebies, courtesy of Bayer Crop Science and Keenan.

Full line-up for the day is to be confirmed. For more information, see the Spud Fest event page.
