Charlie Hoult is a serial entrepreneur who returned to Newcastle after 30 years of education and career across the UK and internationally. He is fourth generation MD of family business Hoults Yard Hubs, a business centre operator in Byker NE6, and has been heavily involved in regeneration initiatives across the city. Charlie started the region’s tech network Dynamo, supporting scale-ups and wider skills initiatives. He was instrumental in the bid for funding Newcastle University’s National Innovation Centre for Data and the city’s science specialist senior school North East Futures UTC. Charlie founded Opencast, a tech consultancy with 500 staff, in 2012, which has become one of the North’s fastest growing large tech firms. In 2019, Charlie was runner up in the election for Mayor of North of Tyne Combined Authority.
