Lorna Moran OBE

Founder and Chairman of Northern Recruitment Group with an overarching national business development remit. Lorna has extensive experience of recruitment at a senior and executive level, typically working at Board level including non-executive appointments.

Lorna was awarded the North East Businessman of the Year in 1997, an MBE for services to Employment Creation in 2000 and an OBE for services to Enterprise Promotion in 2014.

In 2000 Lorna alongside Sir Peter Vardy and several leading entrepreneurs in the North East formed the Entrepreneurs Forum with the aim of sharing practical experiences and providing a learning environment for fellow entrepreneurs, she is currently a Board Member.

Lorna is also a member of the North East Regional CBI Council, and Chair of the Fundraising Board for Maggie’s North East a cancer care charity.

Lorna has previously held the following positions: Trustee of the International Centre for Life, Trustee of the Northern Rock Foundation, Chairman of the North East Development Board (The NEIDB was one of a number of Regional Industrial Development Boards appointed to advise the Secretary of State on individual applications for Regional Selective Assistance. Commenced in 1999 as Board Member and continued as Chair. Resigned when the Board ceased in December 2006); Board Member of Tees Valley Regeneration and St Oswald’s Hospice Jigsaw appeal – Fundraising Board Member.

Lorna was installed as High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear for one year with effect from 25 April 2019.

Personally, Lorna is married with five children and five grandchildren – the latter being her main hobby. In her remaining spare time she enjoys skiing, yoga and swimming in warmer climes!
