Newcastle University Students' Union (NUSU) has over 200 societies and sports clubs you can join. The International Society brings together students of different nationalities. This can help you settle in to the local environment and promotes cultural diversity on our campus.

Entry Requirements

Qualifications

Find out the Nepalese qualifications that we accept for entry onto undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Newcastle.

Undergraduate entry requirements

The Higher Secondary Certificate is not sufficient for direct first year entry. You may be eligible for an International Foundation Programme or an International Year One Programme delivered in partnership with INTO Newcastle. Please note, A Levels or International Baccalaureate would also be considered instead of a Foundation programme.

ABB at A Level is typically the minimum required. Please check course specific entry requirements as they do vary across courses.

Postgraduate entry requirements

Typically we recognise 65% from a 4 year Bachelor Degree or 3 year Bachelor Degree PLUS 1 year Masters as comparable to a UK 2:1 and 60% as comparable to a UK 2:2.

Admissions criteria may vary depending on the course you're applying for. Please check specific entry requirements for postgraduate degrees or find out how to apply.

If you do not meet these requirements you may be eligible to apply for entry to a course at INTO Newcastle. These courses are conducted on our campus and prepare you for studying with us.

English language requirements

If your first language isn't English you will generally need an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent, to study at Newcastle.

Our English language requirements section also lists the alternative English language qualifications we accept. This varies depending on which country you are from.

Visa

Most non-EEA students need to apply for entry clearance permission before departure to study in the UK. You can find more information on our Visa and Immigration page
