Health & safety

All of our events are risk assessed and we have a comprehensive child protection framework in place which all staff adheres to.

The following two policies detail the measures taken by the Student Recruitment Team, to ensure visitor and attendee safety throughout any events that the team hosts.

In addition, each event hosted by the Student Recruitment Team will be fully risk-assessed - alongside the team's Fire & Bomb Procedure (Nov 22) - to ensure participant safety.

Event-specific risk assessments will be distributed among attendees in advance of the relevant event. Event-specific risk assessments can also be requested from the event organiser, or by contacting the Student Recruitment Team via the relevant method.

Child Safeguarding Framework

The following framework details a series of policies and procedures that are in place for all of the events delivered by the Student Recruitment Team:

Key to this framework is our Child Protection Policy, which is updated annually and includes recommendations from the Department of Education, the NSPCC and other relevant organisations:‌

As per the above policy, all staff have received an Enhanced DBS Check and receive annual child protection training from an external body, such as the NSPCC.

External Speakers at our Events and the Prevent Duty

Higher education institutions have a duty of care to students, staff and visitors. This includes a commitment to the Prevent Duty, one of four work strands that make up the government‘s counter-terrorism strategy.

Sometimes we may partner with external organisations, to support the delivery of our events and activities. All external organisations are risk assessed in line with the following University policies:
