What is the Survey on Students' School Spaces?

Survey on Students School Spaces (S3S) aims to promote an inclusive and critical reflection on possible changes to school spaces, also supported by the feedback of students attending it. S3S is a tool for improving the school space through a participatory process. It intends to acknowledge the needs for spatial rehabilitation for each active learning environment, with a potential impact on the teaching and learning processes that it enables. The initial stage uses an online survey to analyse the school spaces to be refurbished, focusing on which spaces students use most frequently in the school and how they make them feel. The second stage involves the organisation of focus groups with the students to clarify these conclusions. Finally, the results are systematised and conclusion are presented on the possibilities of spatial improvement and interventions at different scales.

O que é Survey on Students School Spaces?

Survey on Students School Spaces (S3S) pretende promover uma reflexão inclusiva e crítica sobre possíveis modificações nos espaços da escola, suportadas pela experiência dos alunos que a frequentam. A etapa inicial consiste na análise dos espaços da escola a intervencionar, estudando as dinâmicas dos alunos no espaço, o seu uso efetivo e a sua apropriação para efeitos de ensino e aprendizagem. A aplicação da ferramenta passa posteriormente pela reunião de pequenos grupos, de modo a interpretar e detalhar as dinâmicas dos utilizadores. Finalmente, e com base no conhecimento adquirido, apresenta-se uma conclusão propositiva sobre os espaços e suas possibilidades de melhoria a diferentes escalas. S3S é uma ferramenta que procura uma valorização do espaço escolar, através de um processo participativo que permite gerar um sentimento de pertença por parte dos alunos e perceber as necessidades de reabilitação espacial em cada ambiente educativo ativo, com potencial impacto no processo de ensino e aprendizagem que aí acontece.
