The programme is recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of the 1+3 programme (a four-year award that includes an integrated research training masters in the first year, and a PhD), under its Doctoral Training Centre network. It is primarily intended for students who wish to undertake a PhD.
Students on this programme undertake:
generic social science research training
specialised training on food social science
optional modules in rural development research topics
