Enabling Policy and Guidance for the LEC

Leading Edge Curriculum

The Leading Edge Curriculum (LEC) is our vision for the future of education at Newcastle.  The foundational document is the:

• Leading Edge Curriculum Framework

This sets out the key policy requirements for programmes being redesigned through the curriculum transformation process and new programmes.

For Encounters with the Leading Edge,

• Key requirements and parameters that inform Encounters can be found in our guidance
• Practical guidance and examples for planning Encounters can be found in our toolkit

Integrating with Leading Edge Curriculum and with other aspects of the Education Strategy are:

• Education for Life Skills and Attributes

The Framework is supported by a set of new enabling policy:

• Qualifications, Credit and Programme Design Framework (QCPDF) (replacing the NUQCF for redesigned programmes)
• Programme and Module Learning Outcomes - new policy supporting the Programme-level design philosophy LEC requirement
• Guidance on Writing Programme Learning Outcomes
