Undergraduate entry requirementsUndergraduate entry requirements
Typically we recognise ABB in H2 level subjects in Singapore-Cambridge A levels/Singapore Integrated Programme Cambridge A levels as comparable to ABB at A level. This excludes General Paper.
You may be considered for second year entry with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 in a Polytechnic Diploma in a relevant subject from Singapore, Nanyang, Ngee Ann or Temasek Polytechnics.
Please check course specific entry requirements as they do vary across courses, with ABB typically the minimum required.
Postgraduate entry requirementsPostgraduate entry requirements
Typically we recognise:
- a second upper or 70% and above or GPA of 3.0 and above in a 3-4 Year Bachelors Degree from a Singaporean public university as comparable to a 2.1 and a second lower or 60% and above or GPA or 2.6 and above as comparable to a 2.2
- a second upper or 70% and above or GPA of 3.0 and above in a 3-4 Year Bachelors degree from a Singaporean private college as comparable to a 2.1 and a second lower or 60% and above or GPA of 2.6 and above as comparable to a 2.2
If you do not meet these requirements you may be eligible to apply for entry to a course at INTO Newcastle. These courses are based on our campus and help you to prepare for study with us.
English language requirements
If your first language isn't English you will generally need an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent, to study at Newcastle.
Our English language requirements section also lists the alternative English language qualifications we accept. This varies depending on which country you are from.

Cost of living
Newcastle is a budget-friendly city for international students. This is because:
- accommodation is reasonably priced
- many amenities are within walking distance of your accommodation
- the city is very compact, with most of the shops, theatres, cafes and restaurants a few minutes' walk from the campus

Applying to INTO Newcastle
INTO Newcastle has courses to help you improve your English before you start your degree with us.
