Building Simulation has become a key tool across the Architectural and Engineering Built Environment industry. Proving vital not just in the drive to Net Zero Design , but essential to a deeper understanding of design decisions, compliance with various Building Regulations and more. However, this was not always the case. Hear how building simulation emerged from a humble eccentric beginning, laying the foundations for an everyday design tool, and now paving the way for intelligent and autonomous buildings using the latest techniques of AI.

Niall Gibson. Studied Mechanical & Electrical Engineering with Business at Strathclyde University followed by a Post Graduate Energy Systems and the Environment, also at Strathclyde University. After working at some of the leading engineering consultancies in the UK, Niall has been at IES for the last 13 years, currently Head of IESVE (UK).
