The Landscape team presented their work in a dedicated Research Showcase Webinar. Colleagues created and delivered their engaging presentations to celebrate 75 years of landscape teaching and research at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape.
On Friday 16 May 2025, Landscape staff and students were joined by colleagues from across the Landscape Institute, professional practice, and local government to celebrate.
The event included an exhibition of the Master of Landscape Architecture Year 2 Thesis, Master of Landscape Planning and Management project work, research posters from the School's The Landscape Collaboratory, and posters from Practice showcasing Excellence in Landscape Architectural Practice in the North East.
The event also included a welcome from The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape's Head of School Dr Paola Gazzola, Nigel Hackett son of Professor Brian Hackett who laid plans for what became the first post-war postgraduate diploma in Landscape Design in the UK, and Adrian Clarke of the Landscape Institute North East Branch.

Dr Paola Gazzola, Head of School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape commented:
“This is a huge milestone, and one we are very proud of in the School. The relationships we have made along the way, with students, staff, professional practice and governing bodies have made the Landscape programmes what they are, and we are so privileged to work in such a connected way.
The events we hosted to celebrate this landmark have truly reflected the value across the department; from teaching to research and our links with practice, we have really enjoyed showcasing what we have worked towards, and what we continue to offer”
