Since graduating, what have you gone on to do? 
I was previously a Factory Focused Improvement Specialist where I led the problem solving strategy and was also the designer and trainer of focused improvement methodologies training packages. My current role encompasses the responsbilities of my previous role, but I am also involved in loss intelligence management and stakeholder and project management. 

Is the above what you planned to do before starting university?
It was an option since I had worked in continuous improvement for five years before the Masters. The other option was to do a PhD, since I love teaching and doing research too!

About Tommy's Newcastle Experience

What was your favourite thing about your course?
I loved the fact that top journals and papers were just at the tip of my fingers. Through them, I could see the latest trends in operations and manufacturing and keep myself up to date.

Were you involved in any other extra curriculum activities or societies during your time here?
Yes, I was involved with the Christian Union Society. I was also the course representative and Chairman of the Newcastle Chinese Christian Fellowship (NCCF). 

About Tommy's Future

How do you see future technologies and new ways of working (Future of work) affecting your sector?
It will give the edge to whoever adopts it soon. I myself am already involved in the implementation of new technologies, not only to make material and information flow more “lean”, but to make continuous improvement itself more agile through data intelligence.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
This is a difficult question. Life has too many uncertainties but I hope to be the head of an operations unit or lead continuous improvement initiatives at a corporative and strategic level.
