I am part of the Leadership, Work and Organisation subject group in the business school at Newcastle University and specialise within the field of Human Resource Management and Development at postgraduate and undergraduate level.

I have worked for over 13 years as an established lecturer and also work as a Senior Lecturer in Management for Anglia Ruskin University, lecturer for University of York and in a consultancy capacity for Kaplan Open Learning/University of Essex Online.  

Prior to academia, I worked as a practitioner for over 10 years gaining knowledge and leadership experience obtained in a variety of senior management training and development roles within the private sector, including the financial and business service industries. Amongst others, I have worked for BTplc, Toyota GB and Halifax UK Bank.

My research interests include:

Developing leaders and managers for future success and I am very interested in researching leadership and management development within the maturing Data Centre sector (the next generation's fourth utility), which lacks current theoretical development;

Social theory and its influence and effect on learning transfer, social learning and workplace learning and the effects of socialisation on knowledge transfer;

Cultural Intelligence and awareness and its impact on student engagement and performance;

Organisational behaviour including management learning and development and the use of continuing professional development, critical reflection and reflexivity as a strategic HRD intervention.
