Dr Parth Patel

Lecturer in Intnl. Management & HRM


Dr Parth Patel is a lecturer in International Management & HRM at Newcastle University Business School (NUBS), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Newcastle University, UK. Dr Patel has completed his PhD in Management from Newcastle Business School (AACSB accredited) at the University of Newcastle, Australia and holds a Master of International Business (MIB) from the University of Wollongong, Australia. Prior to joining NUBS, Dr Patel was a lecturer in International Business & HRM at the Australian Institute of Business in Adelaide and has previously worked as a Sessional Marker (Assessor) for Charles Sturt University and as a Sessional Tutor and Marker in Management & International Business for the University of Newcastle, Australia. Dr Patel also holds industry experience as he has previously worked as a Recruitment Consultant with Chandler Macleod, one of Australia’s premier recruitment agencies and HR consulting organisation. Dr Patel is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM) USA, the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy (ANZIBA), the British Academy of Management (BAM), the All-India Management Association (AIMA) and the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI).


Dr Parth Patel actively researches within the disciplines of International Management and International HRM and focuses on, and has expertise in the following areas:

  • Global Staffing and Expatriation
  • HQ-Subsidiary Relationships
  • Transfer of HRM Practices in MNEs
  • Internationalisation of Emerging Market MNEs
  • Institutional Influences on MNEs

Dr Patel sits on the editorial advisory board of the Review of International Business and Strategy Journal (Emerald) and has peer-reviewed scholarly articles for the International Journal of Emerging Markets, Thunderbird International Business Review, Journal of International Management, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, Knowledge Management Research & Practice and International Business Review.


  • Newcastle University Business School Research Fund 2018-19 of £1000 for the project " The Impact of Cultural Value Orientations on HRM Practices of Developing Country Migrants Working in Developed Countries: A Study of Professional Indian Migrants in Australia as Principal Investigator.
  • AIB Internal Research Grant 2017 of AU$2500 for the project "An Action Research Approach to Improve Australian Institute of Business's Online Business Education Curriculum" as Co-Investigator.
