Since graduating, what have you gone on to do?

Since graduating, I joined NAI Bergman as a Summer Associate. I then went back into education and studied towards the MS Finance programme with a real estate focus at University of Cincinnati. I joined Colliers International in 2020 and currently work as the Multi-Family Investment Sales Associate.

Is that what you planned to do before starting university?

Yes, but the modelling and thought process I developed at Newcastle University in just one year MSc programme truly amplified my ability to solve problems faster and more efficiently than before.

Were you involved in any extra-curricular activities during your time here?

I was the Head Lacrosse Coach for the University teams.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I see myself in the same role and the same company. I am a 1099 independent contractor, so I’m considered self-employed. I will also continue to invest in and grow my own real estate portfolio.

How do you see future technologies and new ways of working (Future of Work) affecting your sector?

You need to be able to think independently in today’s fast paced environment. If you don’t know something, ask, or teach yourself. Above all else, it’s important to know how to market yourself effectively on LinkedIn and social media.

What one piece of advice would you give to somebody looking to start a career in your industry?

This is not a profession for the 9 to 5 folks. It’s very demanding, challenging, humbling, and emotionally draining at times. But if you thrive under pressure, demand a high standard for yourself and work well in a team, you will have success after a few years.

"Make sure to take advantage of all the great resources and alumni connections the university has to offer."
