Since graduating, what have you gone on to do?

Soon after graduating, I got a job as a junior SQL developer. This role was my first taste of the corporate world and allowed me to quickly develop both my technical and interpersonal skills in a working environment. A year later I began working as a solution consultant at AxiomSL, here I was given the opportunity to develop and was eventually promoted to solutions support manager.

I have now been at Xander since January 2020 in a managerial position.

Is the above what you planned to do before starting university?

I always had an idea that I would be in a technical role but did not plan to find myself within a managerial role so quickly into my career.

What was your favourite thing about your course?

I loved the practical elements of the course which gave us the opportunity to present business plans we had constructed to tackle real world scenarios.

Were you involved in any other extra curriculum activities or societies during your time here?

I was very involved with the Afro-Caribbean Society and the Dance Society. I played a lot of football in my spare time and loved going to see Newcastle play at St James' Park.

How do you see future technologies and new ways of working (Future of Work) affecting your sector?

Future technologies will definitely have an impact within my sector. Software companies are already looking at how they can utilise artificial intelligence.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I have always had an interest in virtual reality and see myself working within this field.

Continue to develop yourself and learn new skills.
