What inspired you to start your own business?

The business started before I began working there. Me, a few colleagues and outsiders bought the business from the founder in December 2021. I had been working there for a few years then and we saw a huge potential to grow the business further. So we chose to buy the company when the founder wanted to sell the company and retire.

What is the best part of running your own business?

Being able to control your own lifestyle and schedule.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced running your own business and how did you overcome it?

The market change in February/March 2022 with the conflict in Ukraine and hiking electricity prices. The market slowed down overnight. We focused on keeping calm, not panicking and working on as we always did. We managed to land a big customer which helped us through some rough months before the market stabilized a few months later.

What is your 5 year vision for the business?

The 5 year vision is to grow the company further and keep the strong position that we already have in the market. In this vision, growing in big markets like the UK, USA and France will be an important part of the journey.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to anyone wanting to start their own business?

Rather than listening to people who tell you to follow your own passion, you should focus on whether there is a sustainable business idea to it. You will soon enough be passionate about the business.

Were there any key moments during your time at NUBS which ignited your entrepreneurial spirit?

I did enjoy quite a lot of the lectures where we did some group work or presentations. It prepares you for meeting people in everyday life, which in the end is the most important part of running a business.
