How Captured works
Captured pairs small, regional businesses with experienced managers. The managers then act as business mentors to the small businesses.
We provide time and space for small business owners to focus on business development. The mentor's role is to listen, question and challenge, with our facilitators providing support.
Small business owners leave the programme with a business development action plan. Both mentors and mentees leave with new skills, experiences and contacts.

Programme content
Captured has four workshops split into the following categories:
- development needs
- mentor-mentee pairing
- action plan development
- action plan review
As part of a cohort of 6-8 small firms, we'll pair you with a business mentor after your first workshop. You'll spend the majority of the time with your mentor:
- harnessing their skills and expertise
- developing a better understanding of your opportunities and needs
- understanding how to address the challenges you face in achieving your aims
Aside from time with your manager, you'll also take part in peer-to-peer learning.
Workshops
In Workshop 1, small business owners identify key areas they want to lead or develop more effectively.
Small businesses and large firms are then paired together in Workshop 2. During this workshop, pairs get to know each other and identify key challenges and priorities facing the small business.
During Workshop 3, pairs focus on developing an action plan based on resources, capabilities and capacities.
A month after Workshop 3, small business owners return to review progress and reflect on experiences of the programme.
