About this event

Join us for our first session from our new EDI seminar series.

This session will explore whether our future-of-work narratives are too constrained – and how Afrofuturism offers a broader, more inclusive lens.

Drawing on works such as Nalo Hopkinson’s Midnight Robber and Esi Edugyan’s Washington Black, we’ll explore how Afrofuturist storytelling can help us question dominant assumptions and imagine fairer, more diverse futures.

About the speaker

Our speaker is Dr Kathleen Hughes. She is Leverhulme Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University.

Her PhD, Imagining the Future of Work, examines how cultural narratives influence organisational life.

She previously worked in the NHS managing specialist mental-health services, and was awarded the Academy of Management’s CMS prize for Best Critical Doctoral Thesis.
