About the host

Dr Patricia Prado is a Lecturer in Sustainable and Responsible Business at Newcastle University Business School.

She holds a PhD in Information Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. Her Phd has a focus on information and innovation management. She spent a year on placement at the Centre for Research in Innovation Management (CENTRIM). This is part of the University of Brighton, UK.

Patricia is also an Associate Professor at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences, Federal University of Pará (UFPA), in the Brazilian Amazon region.

She has experience in management and teaching in higher education at undergraduate, post graduate, and MBA level. This has taken place in Brazil, Colombia and the UK.

Her pedagogical approach aims to support knowledge construction, critical thinking, and the development of key intellectual and professional skills for students’ graduate careers. These include, for example, designing learning activities that engage students in interactive problem‐solving sessions based on real‐world situations.

Her current research interests lie in the intersection of sustainability and innovation. It focuses on sustainable food systems and the governance of agri-food global value chains in the Global South. Patricia's business experience comes from working in innovation and knowledge management in large companies in Brazil.
