Your Welcome Week activities will take place on the 18 and 19 September 2025.

To help you transition smoothly into university life, we've designed this bespoke schedule for your course. It contains a mix of informative sessions, networking opportunities and fun activities.

You'll find a list of your activities below. Click on an activity title to show the activity description.

Thursday 18 September

For apprentice learners only.

Induction activities will be delivered online on Thursday 18 September.

9:30 - Apprenticeship Induction

Time: 9:30 to 11:30 

Venue: Online

The University Apprenticeship and Lifelong Learning Hub will induct learners to the level 7 apprenticeship journey and processes for on-programme training so that apprentices are aware of their reporting responsibilities. 

 

11:30 - Degree Programme Director Check In

Time: 11:30 to 12:00

Venue: Online

An opportunity to check-in with the Degree Programme Director at the end of the session.

Friday 19 September

For both apprentice learners and MSc learners.

All learners should arrive at the Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC) between 8:30 and 9:30.

For advice on travel and directions to finding us please visit our maps and directions page. Induction sessions and all other in-person study days will take place in the Frederick Douglass Centre (106 on campus map).   

 

8:30 - Learners Welcome and Arrival - FDC Floor 2

Time: 8:30 to 9:30 

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), floor 2

Learners will be issued with a name badge, welcome pack and will be asked to complete a dietary form.

 

9:30 - Welcome and Introduction to the FDC - FDC 2.16

Time: 09:30 to 10:00 

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), room 2.16

Welcome and introductions across the strategic leadership community. In this session, learners will be introduced to the learning approach to understand how they will learn. Learners will be guided through their programme structure and learning journey outlining learner expectations.

10:00 - Understanding Your Programme - FDC 2.16

Time: 10:00 to 12:30 

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), room 2.16

Learners will be introduced to the modules they will study in this academic year, and the academic skills involved.

12:30 - Lunch Break - FDC Floor 2

Time: 12:30 to 13:30 

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), floor 2

A light lunch will be provided.

 

 

13:30 - The People and Places that Support the Programme Journey - FDC 2.16

Time: 13:30 to 16:15

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), room 2.16

In this session learners will be introduced to the people, places and other resources that support the programme journey. 

16:15 - Upcoming Dates - FDC 2.16

Time: 16:15 to 16:30

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), room 2.16

Learners will receive information about the next online and in person sessions.

16:30 - Day Close - FDC 2.16

Time: 16:30 to 17:00

Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre (FDC), room 2.16

An opportunity to check-in with the Degree Programme Director at the end of the day. The Executive Education Team will also be available to answer individual queries.

Monday 20 October

11:00 - "Start with the End in Mind" Session for Year 1 Senior Leader Apprentices - Online

Time: 11:00 to 12:00

Venue: Online - Teams (link is available in the Strategic Leadership Canvas Community)

This session is for Apprentice learners only.

Monday 3 November

12:00 - Induction to Management Direct, Chartered Management Institute’s (CMI) Online Resource - Online

Time: 12:00 to 13:00

Venue: Online - Teams (link is available in the Strategic Leadership Canvas Community)

This session is for all Year 1 learners.
