To help you transition smoothly into university life, we've designed this bespoke schedule for your course. It contains a mix of informative sessions, networking opportunities and fun activities.

Some activities are specific to your course, while others will introduce you to opportunities and events across the wider university.

You'll find a list of your activities below. Click on an activity title to show the activity description.

Please note that:

  • all activities may be subject to change. Check back regularly for the most up-to-date information
  • your activities may be a mix of in-person and online sessions. If applicable, links to online sessions will be provided in the activity description
  • all MBA Welcome Week sessions are compulsory
  • you are required to complete the Belbin questionnaire ahead of induction week

Tuesday 16 September

Meet the education administrator for the MBA programme, Keira Iveson, and get some useful tips on how to navigate university systems. This session also includes an introduction from the School student wellbeing adviser, Chris Petherbridge.

Wednesday 17 September

9:30 – Day at the Beach – Tynemouth

Time: 9:30 to 16:30

Venue: Meet at the Grand Hotel, Tynemouth. You will receive detailed information via email.

Attendance: Compulsory

Sign-up required: No

Spend a day at the beach with your fellow students and the MBA team. The day will include team building activities and a yoga session on the beach. Food and drink provided.

Thursday 18 September

9:30 – MBA Advisory Board Welcome – NUBS 5.12

Thursday 18th September – Community Café – NUBS 8.10

Time: 9:30 to 16:30 (please feel free to attend this event in between your compulsory sessions)

Thursday 18th September – Toon Trek – NUBS

Time: Please feel free to complete this challenge in between your compulsory induction sessions

Venue: Newcastle University Business School 

  • Toon Trek is a team challenge, which will take about 2 hours to complete!
  • You will be allocated to a team and it’s all about having some fun and getting to know students on your course
  • Your team will work together to answer 15 questions about Newcastle (maximum 20 points) and also visiting 7 specific locations in the City Centre (the Toon Trek) to find information and to take photos!
  • There are prizes for the winning team, judged on who has correctly answered questions and which team has taken the ‘best’ photos
  • All answers must be submitted by Wednesday 24th September
