30 July 2025

This prestigious accolade is presented by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management (AOM), one of the world’s leading professional associations for management and organisation scholars.

Professor Bader, Professor in International Human Resource Management, shares this honour with coauthors Dr Jana Bucher and Professor Jürgen Deller for their influential article, “Cross‐Border Knowledge Transfer in the Digital Age: The Final Curtain Call for Long‐Term International Assignments?”, which was published in the Journal of Management Studies.

The award recognises the paper’s significant contribution to international human resource management, praising its theoretical depth, practical relevance, and timely exploration of shifting global mobility trends.

Reflecting on his achievement, Professor Bader said: “It is a tremendous honour to receive such a prestigious award. The Academy of Management is the leading global community for management scholarship, so being recognised by its HR division for my work on digital cross-border knowledge transfer is especially meaningful.

“Our paper represents a true collaborative effort to better understand how knowledge moves effectively across borders in multinational organisations, an issue I believe is central to the future of international human resource management and global mobility. This award not only validates the relevance of our research but also inspires me to continue advancing impactful work in the global human resource management space.”

The award will be formally presented at the HR Division Awards ceremony during the AOM Annual Meeting in Copenhagen in July 2025, where leading human resource scholars from around the world will gather to network, share insights, and celebrate achievements in research and academic excellence.

Newcastle University Business School extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Bader on this international recognition, reinforcing the School’s reputation as a centre of excellence in global leadership and human resource management research.
