The Tri-University Annual Conference is a joint initiative between Newcastle University Business School, Cardiff Business School and Xiamen University School of Management. Since 2015, the conference has aimed to provide a platform for research collaborations and to strengthen interactions between the three participating institutions.

In early May, Newcastle University Business School welcomed colleagues and PhD students from all three universities. Hosted by Dr Jose Liu and Dr Doris Xin, colleagues and PhD students presented and discussed research papers and projects, along with exploring further discussions on cooperation in teaching, learning and administrative training in the future.

By uniting scholars from the UK and China, the event reinforces our commitments to global engagement, institutional partnerships, and the development of an inclusive, high quality academic network that reflects our strategic ambitions both at home and aboard.”

The theme of this year’s conference was 'Navigating Business in an Era of Global Disruptions: Innovation, Resilience, and Sustainability'. It included presenters and speakers from:

  • Alliance Manchester Business School
  • Northumbria University
  • University of Bristol
  • Sheffield University Management School
  • University of Glasgow

Thought-provoking presentations, insightful discussions, and opportunities for networking and community building combined to create an inspiring event for all attendees.

Dr Doris Xin said: “By bringing together researchers across disciplines and institutions, the Tri-University Conference fosters rich academic dialogue that enhances interdisciplinary research and strengthens collaborative scholarship. It directly contributes to our goals of research excellence, innovation, and impactful knowledge exchange in an increasingly interconnected academic environment.”

Congratulations to all who were involved in the planning and the successful delivery of the conference. We look forward to continuing this partnership and working towards research collaboration and strengthening our interactions with Cardiff Business School and Xiamen University School of Management.
