Speaker

Dr Diego Zambiasi, Assistant Professor and Lecturer in Economics at Newcastle University Business School.

Dr Zambiasi specialises in the economics of crime. He studies topics like street crime, white-collar crime, and the impact of drug regulation on criminal and police behaviour.

Drawing on large datasets from the US, UK, and Italy, he explores the factors that shape both criminal activity and law enforcement responses. He also investigates how tax havens enable malpractice in the oil sector and weaken the effectiveness of financial sanctions.
