As a recognised Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner (ELP), we use Bloomberg throughout our teaching and learning. It features in undergraduate and postgraduate modules across Finance, Economics and Accounting.

Students and staff from the Business School are free to access the Lab and register the Terminal. Students from across disciplines use the lab for group projects, independent research, coursework and assessments.

Several Business School colleagues are Bloomberg-trained and available to support you, including an academic lead for the lab. We run regular drop-in sessions to help students and colleagues use the terminal, build confidence and ask questions in a supportive environment.

Develop your skills with a Bloomberg Terminal

A Bloomberg Terminal is a professional financial data and analysis platform. It's used by banks, investment firms and financial analysts worldwide to access real-time market data, company information, news and analytics.

With a Bloomberg Terminal, you can explore:

  • equity analysis – review listed companies, track share prices, run valuation models and compare competitors
  • macroeconomic analysis – explore global inflation, GDP trends, and interest rates using tools like ECST and WECO
  • mergers and acquisitions – research real-world deals and assess valuation, structure, and post-deal performance
  • ESG and corporate governance – analyse environmental and social performance metrics, controversies, and financial impact

Using these tools helps you work with live global market data and understand how financial decisions are made in real time. They provide the foundation for applying your skills in real, competitive trading scenarios.

Put your skills into practice

The Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge gives students the chance to experience real-world investing in a competitive environment. Teams use the Bloomberg Terminal to:

  • analyse markets
  • build a return-generating strategy
  • make trading decisions using live financial data

Results are measured against global market indices. This helps you understand how investment performance is evaluated in practice. You learn to apply financial theory in a live, time-pressured trading environment. You develop practical skills in market analysis, decision-making and teamwork.

Taking part gives you the opportunity to gain real-world experience, challenge yourself and build evidence of your skills for future employers.
